Where I Live!

Thought I would make a quick post about where I'm living during my stay in Dublin! Sorry the beginning of this looks a bit lengthy, bear with me.

I'm in accommodations that house students who go to DBS, Trinity...pretty much any university in Dublin. It is a good mix and each apartment is filled with students from different countries who attend different universities. My apartment holds eight people including myself. We each have our own bathroom and bedroom. My roommates consist of three Irish girls, three French people (one girl, two boys), and one other American girl from Philly. I'm still getting to know everyone but for the most part everyone kind of keeps to themselves.

The other American students studying at DBS live directly below me and in the complex next door - just outside and over a few steps! We are in a fairly good location for the most part. It is about an 8 minute walk to the super market and 10 minutes to O'Connell Street - full of shopping as well as a few movie theaters. The walk to class is about 25 minutes. It took some getting used to but it seems more normal now. The downfall of our location is the walk to any good places we like to go on the weekends - usually a 25-30 minute walk. Oh well!

When you walk into our apartment you see nine doors. Eight go into bedrooms and the door at the end goes into our living area (just a few small couches) and our kitchen. The kitchen has a washer/dryer combination which is really nice - no hauling laundry around the city! However, it is the tiniest washer I have ever seen. I'm going to need to get used to doing small loads of laundry once a week rather than big ones once every three weeks!

Ready for the grand tour?

 here we go!
first stop: bathroom - it's...quaint, don't you think?
(the bathroom is the left right when you walk in my door)
the most broad picture i can get of my entire room area all together
desk and bulletin board - the shelving is perfect for all my accessories :]
note: if you mail me a letter from home you get a place on my bulletin board! *hint hint*
my "tranquil" area: candle, rocks from the beach in Bray, Ireland, and fresh flowers from the market
my view is into the courtyard of the accommodations - fine with me, as long as i can get some natural light (i really am my parents daughter)!
my closet - half the rod is my scarves (if you don't already know, they are my weakness)
there are shelves behind the wood panel on the left side for the rest of my clothes
the shelf at the top is perfect for storing my luggage!

And that concludes the tour! If you would really like to see the living area and kitchen, let me know and I will post a few pictures.

My room really does feel like "mine." My things from home and pictures of friends and family make it nice and cozy! And my electric blanket doesn't hurt the coziness either :].
