the West of Ireland

Hopefully this will be my last long post (still trying to play catch up).

Last weekend all of the American's attending Dublin Business School this semester (15 of us) went to Western Ireland as part of our Irish Life and Culture Class. We began our journey with a two hour ride to Galway City - very cute, I wish we would have had more time to spend enjoying the town. However, we had sites to see!

After a quick lunch in Galway we were off to visit Kylemore Abbey.

The evening was spent enjoying a lamb dinner and competing in a "pub quiz" at the hotel bar - in groups of two we had to be the first to list the 32 counties of Ireland. Luckily we got to ask anyone else in the hotel. A group of ladies was happy to help my group - we came close but didn't score the win!

Saturday morning we went to the Aran Islands. It was about an hour bus ride to the ferry and a 45 minute ferry ride. The "big" island we went to is only 9X3 miles with a permanent population of 800.

Hannah, myself, and Katie at the top - it was a cold, rainy, and windy day!
this graveyard is still used by locals
Aran Sweater Market - i think buying a hand knitted wool sweater is a must
another pub quiz - the winners with Michael (professor)

The next day we drove to the Cliffs of Moher
pit stop at Corcomroe Abbey - fun facts: the graveyard is still used today and mass is held on Easter sunday drawing hundreds
