Fun Filled Weekend

This weekend has been fantastic! Jameson Distillery Friday (details in my previous post), markets on Saturday, an awesome Saturday night out to a new place, and horseback riding today! So. Much. Fun.

Let's start with the markets!

Six of us headed out to the Temple Bar area in Dublin where all three of the markets we went to were located. First stop was the Temple Bar Food Market.

my first order of business - goodies! this bar is short bread on the bottom with caramel and chocolate on top! can you say yum?
cheese! this may be lame - but this purchase is considered adventurous for me. i like all of them except for the square one in the back. naturally, i smelled each before i took a bite, and that one smelled like dirt. i went in for the bite anyway... i kid you not, it tastes like mold! (or what i presume mold would taste like)
next stop - Temple Bar Used Book Market! fun to look through all the boxes of titles. upon my purchase of two books the vendor asked me what i was doing in Dublin and if i was "having the crack?"
"....the what?"
(laughs) "I love to ask Americans that! It's slang for are you having fun."

We also stopped at the Cows Lane Market - a mix of jewelry, art, pottery, and some clothing. No purchases this time, but I will definitely be going back.

Alright, horseback riding! I was really excited for this. When I was younger I went to horse camp for many summers, I loved it! I haven't been on a horse for probably 10 years so it was about time.

 Ali, myself, Hannah, and Katie
1. My horse looks 100% pathetic in this picture, I'm hoping someone took a better one of me on their camera. Her name is Flicka and she has one blue eye and one brown eye. The first thing this little girl said when she brought Flicka to me was, "She's a race horse! She likes to go fast!" Great...

2. The little girl is Emma and she is SO cool! She is ten years old and has been riding for seven years. For some reason this particular stable thought we needed assistance when riding, so yes, a ten year old was guiding me for an entire trail ride. However, she told me if Flicka decided to go fast she'd be right there hanging on - and I really think she would have! I did get to trot quite a bit which I thoroughly enjoyed.

3. After about 30 minutes into our trail ride Emma told me Flicka hadn't been ridden in over a month. "Oh, why is that?" I asked. Mistake. "Because she's coo-coo and no one wants to ride her!"

Overall Flicka was a good little horse. She didn't go crazy and obeyed when I told her to stop. I could definitely tell trotting was her forte, though. Emma talked my ear off the entire trail ride but I enjoyed every second of it - I had to get a picture of us together!

What a fun filled weekend. I am so lucky!

Embracements of the weekend: Trying new things and looking up to a ten year old :]
